Happy Holidays!! Are you guys in full holiday mode yet? We are having fun over here – lots of talk about Santa and what he’s doing right now and how he seems to be at the North Pole making toys but yet somehow in his little house downtown taking pictures with kids at the same time….“It’s Christmas magic!” Â
We’ve been watching holiday movies, drinking way too much hot chocolate, driving around looking at all the holiday lights, and making homemade presents to give away. Last week we made chocolate mendiants and this week we are making these super yummy dark chocolate truffles.
Truffles come together really easily – just melt some of your favorite chocolate and mix it with a bit of cream. Scoop the truffle mix into little balls, roll them in some yummy toppings and hand them out to anyone and everyone that needs a little holiday cheer!
XO,
Jenn
chocolate truffles
from the cookbook Chocolate
makes around 30 truffles
1 cup whipping cream
1 pound best quality chocolate, chopped into smallish pieces
2 tablespoons rum, amaretto liqueur, or Cointreau – optional
cocoa powder
powdered sugar
chopped walnuts
Place the chopped chocolate into a heat-proof bowl. Bring the cream almost to a boil and pour it over the chocolate. Add the alcohol, if using. Stir gently and leave it to cool.
Using a small scoop, place a small amount of chocolate into your hands and roll it into a ball. Coat the truffles in cocoa powder, powdered sugar or the chopped nuts. Chill for at least two hours before enjoying.
