Hello and welcome!
My name is Jennifer and I’m a professional chef, recipe developer, self-taught photographer, and food blogger. I grew up on a self-sustaining farm in Texas and from the very beginning I played with my food. Eating carrots pulled straight out the warm soil, picking strawberries until my fingers were dyed red, and learning to respect every aspect of what went into making the delicious meals that graced our table.
I was heading for a career in criminal justice and law before I realized that I had missed my path. Luckily, while working at a now shuttered famous restaurant in Napa Valley, I started a conversation with the chef about his life that revolved around food and the pantry door was opened.
During that time, I spent a few shifts in the kitchen to see what the hoopla was about and I never left. Ahhh, the days of peeling cases of onions….
At the same time I started my professional kitchen journey, I enrolled in culinary school and was hooked. Cooking day and night was the best thing that ever happened to me (until I had my kids) and I found true happiness surrounded by fresh ingredients, sharp knives and hot stoves.
As of this moment, I’m most happy cooking whenever I can for my clients, taking pictures of my culinary creations, spending my free time with my friends and making memories with my family.
The food I make is seasonal, nutritious, and mostly vegetarian – although sweet treats and tasty meats make an appearance here and there thanks to my Texas upbringing.
Along with tasty recipes, this blog will showcase my love of gardening and the outdoors, easy entertaining tips for big and small events in your life, and the funny side of being a mom.
Please pull up a chair and join me at the table. I’m so happy you’re here.
XO,
Jennifer
